Mass Air Flow Sensor V5/6
Air flow sensor (MAF). Fitted to the air intake system and used by the ECU as a primary input for fuel calculations.
A faulty MAF sensor can cause rough running conditions or stalling and can potentially lead to engine failure due to inaccurate fuel calculations. The sensor surface can become contaminated by oil and dirt and care must be taken when running oiled air filters to avoid excess oil being drawn across the sensor. In some cases cleaning the sensor can restore performance but many times replacement is the only option.
