Extension Housing 6MT
Aluminum transmission extension housing. This is the rear most housing of the transmission case. It houses the center differential and transfer gears and contains the mechanism for the reverse lockout system and the seal for the gear selector rod. The housing is sold as the basic casting without any attached or assembled parts. To install this part requires purchasing or transferring the propshaft oil seal, oil deflector and locating pin, selector rod oil seal, reverse lockout assembly components, propshaft dust cover, transfer drive gear with flanged bearing. transfer driven gear rear bearing race and shim, and shifter stay bracket.
It is not uncommon for the transfer drive gear bearing to fail and consequently explode damaging or wearing through the extension housing requiring its replacement.
