AVCS Intake Cam Timing Sprocket

Replacement VVT intake camshaft sprocket for Subaru EJ applications.  The variable valve timing sprocket is part of Subaru's Active Valve Control System (AVCS) allowing the ECU to advance or retard the intake cam based on engine operating conditions in order to improve emissions, efficiency, and performance across a wide rpm range.  The center hub bolted to the cam is able to rotate within a fixed range relative to the outer timing belt driven portion.  Its position is controlled by oil pressure directed into or exhausted from internal chambers in the sprocket via the AVCS oil control valve (solenoid).

A faulty AVCS cam sprocket will usually result in a CEL and may cause engine performance issues.  The internal components have very close tolerances and therefore should be replaced any time a crankshaft bearing failure occurs.

Available either as a pair or individual left and righ sprockets.
