Ferrea dual valve spring and retainer kits are designed exclusively for use with Ferrea competition valves. Exceptional quality and performance for the ultimate in valve control. Dual springs utilize a heavier outer spring to support the primary load with a lighter inner spring for support and added control. Increases valve opening range before coil bind vs. the equivalent single spring application. A slight interference between the inner and outer springs helps dampen spring oscillations. A dual spring setup offers increased fatigue life, heat dissipation, and improved reliability. Available in two spring specs for either drag or endurance racing applications. Endurance spring kit is identical to what Cosworth used to offer for their head packages.

Upgraded valve springs are essential for controlling valve movement with more aggressive cam profiles.  A higher spring rate is also necessary under high boost conditions due to the manifold pressures acting against the intake valve opposite of spring pressure.  Spring harmonic frequencies must also be moved outside of the normal operating range to avoid negative effects.  High spring pressures increase frictional losses and reduce spring life.  It is recommended to select the valve spring according to the application and camshaft profile so as to ensure optimum valve control over the expected rpm range without introducing unnecessarily excessive spring forces.
