Wheel Bearing Kit R180

Wheel bearing kit includes the bearing together with inner and outer oil seals.  Bearings are pre-packed with grease.  The snap ring is re-used.

Wheel bearing failure is usually evident by a hum or growl that may become louder when the load on the wheel is increased due to cornering weight transfer to that side.  

This is a double tapered roller bearing that is separate from the hub.  The bearing must be pressed into the axle housing and the hub then pressed into the bearing.  Carefully inspect the condition of the hub surface in contact with the bearing because fretting or corrosion can damage this surface requiring hub replacement.  Be sure to remove the oil seals and access the snap ring prior to attempting to press out the old bearing.  A hydraulic press and certain special tools are essential for a successful repair.
