February
10th, 2006 -- Cordoba, Argentina
RS&SP (Racing Suspension & Sport
Parts), a world leader in rally suspension technology, has appointed
RalliSpec Ltd. as its official distributor in North America.
The deal was finalized after RalliSpec
Ltd.'s managing director Dave Anton and legal representative Jorge
Coombs visited RS&SP's headquarters in Argentina. The trip was
an eye opener for RalliSpec as they came away thoroughly impressed
by the level of engineering and development work that is being done
there.
RS&SP is an offshoot of the Barattero
rally team based in Cordoba. Barattero has been involved in building
most of the top level Subaru rally cars that have come out of South
America in the last few years. Last year they supported 3 competitors
in the Production World Rally Championship (Gabriel Pozzo, Marcos
Ligato, and Sebastian Beltram). They came away with six podium finishes
in the N4 classification. In addition, Barattero is also involved
with many of the top South American, national, and provincial competitors.
With support from STi, Barattero has been pushing the development
of the STi in production (Group N) trim. A vast range of specialized
components are engineered and produced in-house. No other effort
outside of Prodrive is on the same level.
The
lessons learned and development knowledge gleaned from their rally
efforts have been funneled into their RS&SP suspensions. In
the short span of a few years they have managed to take things from
the drawing board to a fully developed and championship-winning
suspension system. However, RS&SP is never satisfied to sit
on their laurels. There is continuous testing and development work
going on at their facilities. During their visit, RalliSpec's representatives
sat in on a typical gravel test session with a 2004 STi. They were
also shown numerous components and suspension designs that were
"under development".
RalliSpec's interest in RS&SP is
to be able to provide to the North American motosport community
a suspension system with world-class features and performance at
an affordable price. They also know that a motorsport suspension
system is of no real value if there is not service and support available
to back it up. This is why RalliSpec technicians are factory trained
on all service and rebuidling procedures and can also get involved
in working with the RS&SP factory to develop new or custom suspension
options.
RS&SP suspension systems are available
for Subaru Impreza, Mitsubishi Evo, Ford Focus, Honda Civic, Peugot
206, and other applications. Impreza and Evo applications feature
3-way adjustability, external reservoirs, adjustable hydraulic bumpstops
(optional), large inverted shafts, and robust construction. Tarmac
or gravel versions are available. Contact sales@rallispec.com
